Oak Hill, TN
Oak Hill was developed in the early 1900's from several large farms. Much of this acreage served as the major battlefield of the Battle of Nashville in the Civil War.
The topography includes steep hillsides covered in old growth forest to gently rolling land bordered by stone fencing and gentle streams.
Radnor Lake, a state natural area, offers over 1,000 acres of pristine forests and a 90 acre lake. The area has been dubbed Nashville's "Walden Pond". Hiking and canoe trips are offered by the state managed facility. Natural wildlife includes beaver, otter, muskrat, bobcat, and deer and multiple species of duck. Hunting and taking of wildlife and plants is strictly forbidden and strongly enforced. Because of this protection, many of the animals are easily viewed while hiking on the miles of well maintained trails.
Oak Hill lies between Green Hills (the city's most upscale shopping area) and Brentwood/Cool Springs, the largest retail shopping complex in the state. The area is served by two interstates (I-65 and I-440) and enjoys excellent, well maintained city streets. The Nashville Airport is 10 minutes away, and John Tune, a private airport, is 20 minutes to the west. Private schools are for the most part within the community or close by. Belmont University, David Lipscomb University, and Vanderbilt University are all close by, as well as major medical facilities.
