Thompson Station, TN
Thompson Station is located 7 miles south of Franklin, adjacent to Spring Hill. Incorporated in 1990 with a population of 791, a special census of Thompson Station was completed in 2000 with a total population of 1,283.
The area later to become Thompson Station was beginning to be settled as early as 1799 by pioneers, mostly from Virginia, and North Carolina. The pioneers had received land grants for service in the Revolutionary War. Some of the first families into the area were the James Bufords, Chapman Whites, Francis Giddens, and Hardy Murfrees.
In 1989, Spring Hill was chosen as the site of General Motors' new plant which would design and produce the Saturn automobile. Being so near Thompson Station, it has brought an explosion of residential developments to the area. In 1990 the town was incorporated to stop encroaching annexation from Spring Hill.
Today, Thompson Station is known for its sprawling farms and estate properties. Thompson's Station real estate is tough to find, but when a property does come on the market you've got to be quick and expect a bidding war.
